USB-C Not Recognized When Chromebox is On

Issue:  There have been instances where the new Optoma displays are not showing the Chromebox display when the space bar is pressed on the Chromebox to wake it up.  When this happens, the Display continues to show “No Signal” when the USB-C input is selected even though the Chromebox is on and awake (you will know this by the light being lit on the Chromebox).  Below are some steps to take to make a slight setting adjustment recommended by Optoma Support to try to help alleviate this issue.

  1. On the Display, press the arrow on either side of the screen to bring up the Menu.
  2. Touch the Gear to be taken to the Settings for the display.
  3. Within the Settings, touch the System settings and then locate the Power option; touch it to be taken to the Power settings (shown below).

  1. Make sure that the Signal Power On setting is set to ON.  (In the above picture, the setting is set to OFF; make sure the slider has been slid over to the right.)
  2. Once that setting is turned on, touch the display anywhere in order to make the settings disappear.
  3. On the Display, press the arrow on either side of the screen to bring up the Menu.
  4. Touch the icon looks like 3 lines stacked on top of each other.  This should bring up the input options.
  5. Select USB-C as the input option.  The Display should then switch to the USB-C input which will then show the Chromebox display.

*Note:

  • If the Chromebox is on (light on the CB is on) but still not being displayed, unplug the USB-C cable from the left side of the display (on the back), and then plug it back in.  This should adjust the display to show the Chromebox display.  This is a temporary workaround that will help in case the above setting changes do not fix the issue.
  • If the user presses the Home button from the Menu that shows when the arrow on either side of the display is pressed, they will be taken to the Optoma display home.  Some displays have the inputs listed there.  If they are not, then the icon of 3 lines stacked on each other that is accessible via the side menu should be used to select the display’s input.
