REMINDER: Online School Forms

COMING NEXT WEEK

August 6, 2025
Hello WCSU Families! We hope you’re having a great summer and we’re looking forward to seeing you come back on August 27th. We wanted to send out a reminder about the online registration forms that are coming out next week for returning families. We’d also like to address some possible concerns that you may have about moving this annual paperwork to an electronic format.

Alma Start Online Re-Registration Forms

Some of you have heard about Alma, our Student Information System. For those who haven’t, it’s how we store information, record attendance, and communicate grades. There are also many more features we’re excited to explore. Alma Start is a tool that allows our schools to build digital registration forms and lets parents/guardians directly update their student’s information.

Last Spring we requested that parents and families sign into Alma to fill out a short form regarding the upcoming school year, and we had hundreds of responses! This was a huge success and puts us in a great starting place for completing these annual Student Information forms.

Our Data Systems Manager, Samson Sherman, will be sending out instructions for filling out the forms next week. If you need any assistance getting logged into Alma, you can email it@windhamcentral.org to get setup.

New Electronic Health Record System

WCSU school nurses are excited to announce that this year we will be using a new EHR (Electronic Health Record) system called SchoolDoc. Having this new, effective EHR will allow them to have a centralized location for each student's health information, giving them quick access to their medical history, allergies, medications and immunizations.

This switch will also eliminate the need for paper files, including our Annual Health Questionnaire. SchoolDoc provides parents/guardians with a login to enter their student's medical information and complete these questions online as part of the re-registration process. There is also capability for more comprehensive health plans if needed. This new system will allow nurses to be more efficient, improve our communication, and provide more direct care for our students!

Nervous about using online platforms?

Some parents may be worried about having their student’s information online. Here’s a couple things we’d like you to consider if you’re worried about using these systems:
  • These systems have long been a standard and important practice for schools all over the country, they help us operate more efficiently, collaborate to support individual student needs, and communicate important information with families. Even though your interaction with them may be new, our use of them is not. Your participation with the online platform is going to lighten the load on your paperwork as well as make our internal systems more efficient and up-to-date.
  • Windham Central has taken extra steps to ensure the safety of your student’s data. As part of a newly established collaboration with the National Student Data Privacy Consortium, we’ve reached a Data Privacy Agreement with both SchoolDoc and Alma that ensures the appropriate use and protection of student information, in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. In addition, WCSU is seeking similar privacy agreements with all educational technology platforms we use.
