What's Happening In Townshend . . .

Mondays

Homework Club
Program Leader: Sandy Sperry
Grades: 1 - 6
Students must have homework in order to stay for Homework Club.  An adult and high school students will be available to assist students with their homework.

Gardening Club
Program Leader: Doug Brooks
Grades: 1 - 6
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty you should join Gardening Club.  You will practice basic gardening skills such as planting seeds, weeding, cultivating, and creating gardens.

Book it to the Library
Program Leader: Maureen Holden
Grades: K - 3
Do you like to read?  Do you enjoy listening to stories?  Come explore our school library and the Townshend Public Library.  We will read great books, talk about them and see what activities the books inspire.

School Yard Games
Program Leader: Madison Russ
Grades: K - 4
Teamwork, fresh air and fun, that's what Yard Games are for!  Every week learn a new yard game.  So, if you are ready for new games to share with your friends, School Yard Games is just right for you!


Tuesdays

Spring Observations & Art
Program Leaders:  Megan Richardson & Judy Gould
Grades: K - 2
Spring is here!  Let's spend some time outdoors observing nature in the spring, which will involve some hands-on activities, art and journaling.

Fishing 
Program Leaders: Doug Brooks & Maureen Holden
Grades: 4 - 6
We are excited to offer an opportunity for young fisherman to get out and do some fishing after-school at a pond in Athens.  Participants will be transported by the program leaders to the pond where they will put worms on their fishing poles and spend time practicing the art of fishing.  Any fish caught will be released!

Sew What?!
Program Leader: Lois Thibault
Grades: 3 - 6
Learning to sew is fun and easy in this program!  Make your own hand-sewn projects.  Easy, colorful projects and lots of fun, that's what this program is all about!


Wednesdays

Homework Club

Fishing
Program Leader: Doug Brooks
Grades: 1 - 3

Latch Hook Fun
Program Leader: Maureen Holden
Grades: K - 6
Come learn the timeless art of latch hook rug making.  No experience needed.  All materials will be provided.  Advanced rug hookers and newbies are welcome.

Robotics
Program Leader: Rence Ricohermoso
Grades: 4 - 6
Come and explore the world of robotics!  We will be building a bulldozer and other machines that are powered with energy from the sun, wind, or water!  Experience how to problem-solve and understand technology and engineering through hands-on fun.  


Thursdays

Spring Walkers
Program Leaders: Elizabeth Cutts and Emily Cutts
Grades: 3 - 6
Join our walking club.  Enjoy the fresh, spring air.  Chat with your friends.  You will walk on trails, around the ball field and around the school area.  There will be some running games.  If you like to get outside and exercise, this program is for you!

Outdoor Games
Program Leader: Stephanie Brown
Grades: K - 4
Do you enjoy being active and being outside with your friends?  Teamwork, fresh air and fun, that's what Outdoor Games is all about!

Mountain Biking
Program Leaders: Owen White & Melissa White
Grades: 4 - 6
After surviving this long, cold winter it is time to get outside, move our legs and bike into spring!  Traveling along a variety of routes and paths, students will pedal themselves through the fresh air and over some rocky terrain.  Don't be afraid if your biking skills, or bike is rusty!  Students are encouraged to ride at their own pace.
