       MONDAYS

Homework Club

Grades:  1 - 6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Students must have homework in order to stay for Homework Club.  An Adult and high school students will be available to assist students in their homework.


Learn the Art of Braiding

Program Leader:  Doug Brooks

Grades:  4 - 6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Cost:  $20

Rug braiding is a craft nearly anyone can learn. A simple braid is combined with an uncomplicated process to create a beautiful rug. Each is one of a kind, often made with wool or recycled material. Some sewing is also needed. You will learn this process, while creating a coaster, hot pad, chair pad or rug.  Materials will be provided but if you have some cotton or wool material you would like to use please bring it.  Small pieces of material won’t work very well.


Cooking

    Program Leaders: Jessica Mowrey

Grades: K - 3   

Time: 3–4:30pm  

Suggested contribution:$20

Follow recipes to make special treats each week and create your own recipes to share with your family.  Participants will learn about safety in the kitchen, working with fractions by halving recipes and doubling recipes. New and past participants welcome.  Limited to 8 Students due to the size of the room. 


Lego Creations

Program Leader:  Maureen Holden

Grades:  K - 6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Suggested Contribution: $20

Let’s be creative!  What do you think you can create with Legos?  How about building different kinds of animals, or towers or a spaceship.  We will follow directions to create different things each week.  We will learn about how to make structures stronger when they are built.  




        TUESDAYS

                  (Nov. 4, 18 25 & Dec. 2, 9)

Scrapadapadoo

    Program Leader:  Kris Jerz & Bethany Barton

    Grades:  3-6

    Time:  3:00-4:30 pm

    Suggested Contribution $20

Learn the art of telling a story through your photographs!  Everyone will receive a scrapbook and the materials to enhance your photos.  You will also have fun writing about your photos in a  way that tells a story.  You will need to provide your own photos.  Welcome old and new participants.


Holiday Extravaganza

Grades:  K - 2

Time:  3–4:30pm

Suggested contribution:$20

We will be celebrating the upcoming holidays of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and New Years with Books, crafts, food, and other exciting things. Bring your enthusiasm and holiday cheer.



Basketball Open Gym for Girls

Program Leader:  Madison Russ, L&G Student

                     and Heidi Russ

Grades: 3 - 6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Suggested Contribution: $20

Basketball gym time for girls to practice shooting and dribbling skills through games and drills.  Fun is emphasized, along with encouragement and skill building.




        WEDNESDAYS
                  (Nov. 5, 12, 19 & Dec. 3, 10)

Survival Skills

Program Leader:  Doug Brooks & Carla West

Grades: 3-6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Cost: $20

Come and spend some time in the woods.  We will be checking on the shelters we built last winter and see if they are still standing.  We will try to improve them and make them stronger. You will continue to learn what you need to know if you are lost in the woods.  Don’t forget to dress warm for the outside weather and to wear bright colors.

Limited to 8 students unless there is a parent volunteer to help transport students.


Flight! Gliders to Jets

Program Leader: Rence Ricohermoso,

    Leland & Gray Math Teacher

Grades: 2 - 6   

Time: 3–4:30pm  

Suggested contribution:$20

Explore different types of “flight” such as gliding, parachute drop, propeller power and jet propulsion.  Every week there will be different science activities to explore flight.  The program leader, Rence, is a math teacher at Leland and Gray High School.

Limited to 10 students


Latch Hook Fun

Program Leader:  Maureen Holden

Grades:  1-6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Cost: $20

Come learn the timeless art of latch hook rug making.  No experience needed.  All materials will be provided.  Advanced rug hookers and newbies are welcome.  Limited to 10 students

Advanced Crazy Computer Codes

Program Leader:  Kris Jerz

Grades: 4 - 6   

Time: 3-4:30pm   

This program will be a continuation of learning computer codes and the use of the Hopscotch app.  The challenge will be to create your own game using the app.  It is also open to new participants but they will begin with the basic applications.  Limited to 10 students.


Games & Puzzles

Program Leader:  Ashley Hescock,

High School Student

Grades:  K-6

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Cost: $20

What do you want to try today?  Come choose from an endless variety of activities, including  Bingo, strategy games, puzzle solving, dice games and board games that are sure to keep your imagination dancing.  Team work will be encouraged in puzzle solving and group games.


Math Tutoring

Program Leaders:  Julie Dolan (Gr. 4-6)

Stephanie Brown (Gr: 1-3)

Time:  3-4:30 pm

Cost: $20

This math tutoring intervention program needs both parent and teacher recommendations.  Classroom teachers will work with the tutor to ensure the needs and weak areas of the student are known and concentrated on.  Limited students to ensure small group direct instruction.
