What's Happening in Dover . . .

Mondays

Lunch Anyone?
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Angela Letizia
This program is a follow-up of Breakfast Anyone, however any student can join this class.  Students will learn to make healthy and simple lunch choices.  We will also make healthy drinks to accompany the lunch food.  Children will learn the art of cooking while developing math, reading, social understandings and safety skills.  Students will practice measuring ingredients, kitchen safety and will hopefully enjoy their food creations!  This is a great opportunity for children to explore alternative foods while learning healthy eating habits and supports the health curriculum.  

Movie Making
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Greg Montgomery
In this program students will collaboratively work to produce a movie which will be features at the ITV Festival in 2015.  Students will develop a story, write scripts, be performers, producers, directors and editors of the movie.  This class supports education in the arts as well as technology.  

Study Hall
Grades: 4 - 6
Program Leader: Bodil Morse
This time will provide students with an opportunity to complete homework.  They will receive minimal guidance by the supervising staff.  If children complete homework prior to the end of class they will choose a quiet activity such as board games, reading a book, drawing, etc.  


Tuesdays

Outdoor Fun
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Jocelyn Smith
In this program students will have fun outside.  They will go hiking, play on the playground, sled, snowshoe, biking and more.  Children must have proper attire to attend this class.  All activities will happen outdoors unless weather prevents it.  This class supports physical education and cooperation.

Build Your Own Computer
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Greg Montgomery
In this program students will dismantle non-working computers and then work to use the recycled parts to create a working computer.  This class specifically supports engineering and technology education.


Wednesdays

Games, Games, Games
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Jocelyn Smith
During this program children will be giving the opportunity to participate in playing many games.  Games may include board games, card games, brain games, and cooperative sports games.  This class supports creative thinking and cooperation.

Windmills Jump Rope Club
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Kelly Chase
During this program children will learn the sport of jump roping.  This class will be supported by a student who was previously on a jump rope team.  Children will learn collaborative jumping games and develop their individual skills in coordination, rhythm, and timing.

Study Hall
Grades: 4 - 6
Program Leader: Crystal Griswold
Children will receive minimal guidance by the supervising staff.  If children complete homework prior to the end of class they will choose a quiet activity such as board games, reading a book, drawing, etc. for the remainder of time. 


Thursdays

Sculpt It
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Bodil Morse
During this class children will be given the opportunity to create clay sculptures and figures.  Children will learn to work with clay by creating 3-dimensional art.  Students will use their own imagination to create projects and copy professional artists creations.  This class supports education in the arts.

Sports History
Grades: K - 6
Program Leader: Kelly Chase
This class supports historical knowledge.  Children will learn about a variety of sports that have taken place over the centuries.  They will discover variations of games and see how games have been modified over the years to fit societal needs.  Children will explore little known and popular sports to learn about them in new and exciting ways.  This class supports enrichment learning through learning the roots of modern day and ancient sports.
